About the Lab
NPS is a Naval command with a defense graduate university mission. We are defense educators, subject matter experts and staff serving those who serve our nation. NPS develops warrior talent and research solutions through Master’s and Ph.D. programs for the Department of the Navy, DOD, U.S. Government, partners and our allies. We prioritize education, research, and innovation. We educate Navy officers and others in defense-focused fields; conduct basic and applied research; and lead naval innovation via collaborations with academia and industry.
About the Internship
We are seeking bright, self-motivated students interested in contributing to basic and applied research and expanding their STEM skillset. The internship includes a weekly enrichment program with activities across a wide array of STEM disciplines. With a large cohort of students working across many disciplines, interns join a community of fellow STEMites.
What will I do any given day as an intern at this lab?
Interns participate in lab functions in a number of ways including (but not limited to) assisting mentors with guided research projects; job and project shadowing with professional researchers; networking with STEM professionals and other interns; and attending technical meetings, seminars, and conferences.
What will I learn as an intern at this lab?
Interns learn new academic content: the science, engineering, and technical skills required to advance their research projects. They are also exposed to a wide array of STEM fields and career paths via the weekly enrichment program. Finally, interns learn how to work in a professional environment, including personal accountability, communication, leadership.
